Welcome Spring! We have been waiting a while for you to appear!

We are now 90 days into 2025. This might be a good time to check in on those goals you set at the beginning of the year. Don’t worry if you got off track. Now is the time to see how you can refine those goals based upon more information that you did not have at the beginning of the year.

Jane and I were watching a show the other day in which the main character, an avid bird watcher, commented about ‘focus’. She said one of the main strengths of birds was their ability to focus – mainly on food. They are always on the hunt for food – whether its insects, other birds, fish, whatever. Nothing distracts them from that objective.

Humans on the other hand, do not have the same ability. In fact, we have created a society that intentionally creates distraction. Distraction keeps us from achieving our goals, from understanding what’s important (versus urgent), and valuing being entertained versus doing the work.

Jane and I wrestle with this when it comes to our business. We create social media posts that try to capture attention. Hopefully, we provide some value or education, but it’s still part of the social media culture we also fret about. We also know that our focus is to help our clients with their real estate needs – not some new TikTok dance. There are even ‘experts’ in our industry advocating “attention over ability”. How sad to think people should choose an agent based on form versus substance. I’m sure this is taking place in many other aspects of our life.

Like the birds looking for food – stay focused.

UPDATE: I wrote the following section prior to the tariff news on April 2nd. Like all of you, while we believe there will be an impact, it is too early to know what that may be. Mortgage rates may come down but demand may also be affected. It is just too soon to tell. We will know more in the next few months.

Jane and I believe in continuing to enhance the client experience for all of our clients. It starts with how we communicate and handle the start of your real estate experience, through the transaction phase, and then, post-transaction as you enjoy your home. Over the next few months, clients will begin to see the rollout of that technology from a company called Mosaik. You will be invited to be a part of the system that will give you access to features that you may find helpful. Among them will be a concierge section which will have vendors and service providers across many different categories. These vendors have been used by us or our clients and have demonstrated their ability to deliver the service we expect. Vendors are not charged by us, nor can they pay to get on our list.
