3 Takeaways from the Keller Williams Family Reunion

3 Takeaways from the Keller Williams Family Reunion

Over Presidents Day weekend, Keller Williams hosted their annual Family Reunion event. The four day event covers all the bases, acting as a State of the Company address, a celebration of wins, and an unparalleled opportunity for agents to network with and learn from their follow agents. This year, a staggering 17,000 Keller Williams agents attended Family Reunion, making this event especially memorable. The Cyr Team was proudly in attendance, and here are our three big takeaways.

#1 Our Network is Huge

Keller Williams is the number one real estate franchise in the entire country – this is true not just  for agent count, but also for closed units and closed sales volume in the United States. The KW agents are what make these numbers possible, which means that attending Family Reunion allowed our team to rub elbows with some of the best real estate agents in the industry. When you use a real estate team that is part of the Keller Williams family, you are gaining access to the shared knowledge and resources of this incredibly talented, diverse, and prolific network.

One big way that we leverage this network is to help our clients (or their friends or family) with out of town transactions. This is common for people who are selling a home in our tri-state area and moving elsewhere, or who may be moving here and selling a home somewhere else in the country. At Family Reunion, we had the opportunity to meet and get to know hundreds of well-qualified agents from across the nation. When our clients (or their friends or family) need a real estate agent out of town, they no longer need to choose a name from the proverbial hat – we can introduce them to qualified, professional, and successful agents who will handle their out of town transaction with the care and attention you’d expect from the Cyr Team at Keller Williams. The size and potential of this network could really be felt at Family Reunion.

#2 Industry Updates and Best Practices

One of the best parts of Family Reunion is the opportunity to learn the latest and greatest in real estate standards and practices. Gary Keller, co-founder of Keller Williams, gave the keynote speech this year and shared exciting updates about the future of technology in the real estate market, and shared insights about the new Keller Williams platform that has been quietly in development for the last two years. These tools will undoubtedly help agents like us provide significant value and better experiences to our clients and market place.

In addition to formal speeches and presentations, we also had the opportunity to attend multiple breakout sessions over the four-day event. Breakouts are an incredible use of the KW network, as they allow agents to learn best practices from the people who have been using them – other agents. Some of the topics covered in these sessions taught by top-producing teams were: How to run effective client events, how to prepare and market homes, and how to properly leverage social media, and how to bring luxury marketing tools into the mainstream. Being able to work directly with the teams that pioneered and perfected these methods and ask them questions in real time was a rewarding and useful experience for our team. This is just one of the benefits of belonging to the Keller Williams family.

#3 Continuing Education and Engagement

Spending a long weekend in New Orleans was an incredible experience in and of itself and having the opportunity to learn and engage with our fellow agents was the cherry on top. While we had fun at the event, we never lost sight of our main purpose over the weekend – to stay informed, relevant, and engaged. The real estate market can change quickly. Technologies and tools will come and go, and agents who don’t stay informed can quickly fall behind, to the detriment of their clients. We regularly complete continuing education to make sure that we remain at the forefront of our industry, and Family Reunion is just one way we do that.

We aren’t part time real estate agents. We are serious professionals who are constantly working to hone our craft, our knowledge, and our client experience. We believe there is no better brokerage to help us grow and thrive, and we were honored and humbled by the realization that many of this weekend’s lessons proved that our methods were already in line with top-producer best practices.
