About
Crossgates is a detached single-family subdivision in the 19808 ZIP code of New Castle County, Delaware, served by the Red Clay Consolidated School District. Homes were built primarily in the mid-1960s — Public records confirm year-built dates of 1964, 1965, and 1966 for specific properties — on lots ranging from under 7,000 to over 13,000 square feet, several of which terminate in cul-de-sacs. The subdivision sits adjacent to McKennan’s Church Road, which runs directly past the entrance to Delcastle Recreational Park, a 400-acre New Castle County facility offering an 18-hole golf course, baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis, a street hockey rink, and a 1.7-mile paved trail.

What Makes This Distinct
No HOA is recorded in public records for Crossgates, meaning road and common-area maintenance obligations default to either individual owners or the Delaware Department of Transportation under state law — a structural condition buyers should verify before closing. Under New Castle County code, roadways within neighborhoods are maintained by homeowners’ or neighborhood associations where those exist; in their absence, public roads revert to DelDOT jurisdiction.
