Chatham Park is a mid-20th-century subdivision in Haverford Township, Delaware County, built on 109 acres that the Pennsylvania Railroad Golf Club occupied from 1925 until the land was sold in 1943 to Warner West Corporation, which developed the community for returning World War II veterans. Homes were introduced to the market beginning around 1950 — a March 25, 1950 Philadelphia Inquirer advertisement targeted veterans with minimal down payments — and construction ran through approximately 1968, producing a stock of brick colonial detached homes on curvilinear streets deliberately designed to depart from the city-block grid. The neighborhood shares a name with its assigned elementary school, Chatham Park Elementary (400 Allston Road).
